My paintings are done in the Yosemite high country, in gardens in & around my home & in the Santa Cruz mountains. I love the interplay of light & shadow as they shape a painting.
Over the years Yosemite and particularly the high camps - Tuolumne, Sunrise, May Lake as well as Tenaya Lake & a few "hidden" spots - have challenged & delighted me as I seek to paint & take in the beauty there. Mostly I paint outside to better see the colors, shapes and shadows of my subjects. Usually that means a number of sessions to complete the painting.
